 Tenants Home Improvements

If a tenant wishes to make home improvements please contact the Property Services department at Apex Housing.

All structural alterations and minor improvements must be approved by the Property Services Manager.

On granting approval the Association will not accept any liability arising from any incident or damage involving the improvements.

Home Improvements carried out without consent.

Where a tenant has carried out improvement works without the Association’s permission, consent maybe given retrospectively, provided the work has been completed to a satisfactory standard.  If the work is sub-standard the Association will insist that the works are rectified to a satisfactory standard.

If the tenant refuses the matter will be reported to the Property Services Manager.

The options available if a tenant refuses to upgrade sub-standard work:

A. Legal Action for breach of  tenancy conditions.  A claim will be issued for damages (i.e. cost of any reinstatement).

B. Remedial works will be carried out by the Association and the tenant will be charged the costs.
