Apex Housing staff were recently presented with their Food Hygiene ‘Scores on the Doors’ certificates by Genevieve Mc Williams, Senior Environmental Health Officer of Derry City Council.
The new ‘Food Hygiene Rating Scheme’ was introduced in June of this year and compliments the Councils ‘Eat Safe’ Award. The ‘Scores on the Doors’ is a scheme run by the Food Standards Agency (NI). It is administrated by local council Environmental Health Departments in conjunction with the Food Standards Agency.
All twenty one of Apex Housing schemes within Derry, Strabane, Omagh and Fermanagh have received this award. The homes have all been rated as either a four or five (very good or excellent) for food safety, management and leadership.
Eileen Mc Ivor, Catering Manager, is delighted that the schemes have been awarded the highest possible hygiene ratings and praises the high standards and commitment of staff.
Eileen commented: “Food has such an impact on our well-being; we can’t afford to get it wrong. We strive as a company to ensure the best possible standards are in place.
“Apex Housing recognises that our first and foremost responsibility is to ensure a safe and quality food service.
“I would like to congratulate all the schemes for attaining this accolade as the award involves an ongoing commitment to excellence in food hygiene and safety”
