Following the construction of the hugely important earthen dam in 2001, a community food / seed store was then built in 2004, to allow for the storage of food and seed throughout the year.  Both projects proved a great success.  The dam supplies clean drinking water for the whole community and water for livestock and crop irrigation.

In 2005, due to severe drought conditions, we supplied the community with seed to enable them to replant their crops and take advantage of the rains when they came.

And in 2006, we funded the construction and fitting out of a Community centre.  This was at the specific request of the community to allow for social, community and educational events to be held.

The overwhelming conclusion of the feedback we received from the Makutano community is that the assistance given by Apex has transformed the community into a vibrant and dynamic one.
